Offered for bids is this circa 1940 Parker Vacumatic fountain pen in the Shadow Wave design and the very hard to find emerald color. Parker produced some of the most beautiful pens of the 1930's and 40's with different colors and designs and this pen is a perfect example. This is the later version of the Shadow Wave with the Arrow clip as opposed to the earlier Parker feather clip of the 1930's. The is pen measures 5.1 inches in length with the cap screwed on in place. While this pen was the same size as standard Vacumatics of the 1940's, it was a part of Parker's Junior Vacumatic Line. Unlike most Vacumatics from the 1940's, this model has double jewels that are the correct black jewels free of chips or bite marks. The pen is in excellent condition and other than the expected surface wear, it has no cracks, dings or bite marks and the gold plated trim is free of any brassing except on the cap bands. The barrel transparency is good with some ambering that I would rate at 30%. The barrel imprint is crisp and has a date code of ".0.". The diaphragm is new and pliable and draws up and expels water as designed. The 14K gold Vacumatic nib is correct and is a fine point with good flex and a full compliment of iridium. Vacumatic pens in the Shadow Wave design are hard to come by and even harder to find in the emerald pearl color. This would read more
