For your consideration is this nice section of a brick-red, dense crystal of Thorite from the Butterfield Pegmatite, Pine, South Platte Pegmatite District, Colorado. Measures ~20,000 CPM on my Ludlum Model 3 counter with the 44-9 Probe and alpha shield on; impressive for it's size. Thorite overall is very rare for Colorado and this is a great example. A rare specimen from a classic pegmatite locality! Specimen Dimensions: 2.5 x 2.2 x 1.5 cm. Weight: 18 grams.
