Special Forces, Command Control North Mobile Launch Team 2 QUANG TRI and the DMZ Mobile Launch Team 2 Special Forces, Vietnam War Patch This is an exclusively rare war piece out of a long held collection. It is a pre-finished, prototype patch for whatever reason remaining unfinished. This piece; Un-cut Un-finished Un-Worn This piece to be completed would require further trimming and sewing whilst main piece to centre in perfect condition. These are the earliest of the pieces with final pieces coming from these prototypes. Part of very small series, should not be missed. MLT 2 (Mobile Launch Team 2) Green Berets Special Forces unit that operated out of Thuan Thien a Special Forces base outside of Quang Tri. A Special Reaction Force, All Airborne Trained Green Berets it was used for reinforcement or immediate deployment to exploit oppotunities identified through new intelligence collected from POW's. MLT 2 was one of the few Special Forces Units to use USMC (Marine Coprs) pilots for insertions (Mission 72) and conducted missions into North Vietnam and Laos as well operations within South Vietnam. They operated in conjunction with members of the Bru Montagnards Group. (Note, The Bru were not Special Forces Qualified and did not wear this patch). The Laos Operations were given the name 'Phu Dung' (and again one of the few times that the USSF and the USMC operated together in Laos). On the departure of the US Special Forces units at Thuan Thien in 1971 the base was closed and almost immediately occupied by the NVA.
