1930s Patent Design for the famous streamlined S-1 Locomotive by Raymond Loewy, Famous Industrial Designer, for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Look for other Raymond Loewy Designs... Actual date and Patent Number will be on your piece.Some information from the Raymond Loewy Foundation website: Loewy’s career with the Pennsylvania Railroad began with a commission to design the trashcans for Penn Station in New York. Loewy had approached the firm’s president about designing a locomotive for them, but instead had been given the much smaller assignment as a test of his abilities. The design was a success and led to a series of important commissions with the company, including a series of locomotives.This wonderful reproduction of the original patent graphic is crisply printed on luxurious Ivory Parchment Paper. It includes a white acid-free matte and is ready for insertion into a standard 8" x 10" frame for hanging. Graphic area shown is 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".
