A magnificent, vintage reproduction of a painting by Paul Gauguin. Signed lower left, Paul Gauguin '92 (1892), and at lower right, Haere Pape. Originally sold by The Barnes Foundation circa 1998 to benefit conservation of their art collection. The sight area of the work measures 5" x 7" and it is 9" x 11" in the original gold gilt frame . Also, please remember that shipping charges for Parcel Post, Priority Mail, etc. are on the rise and shipping delays due to Post Office cutbacks are common. While these costs may seem expensive to you and and any delays unreasonable; I don't control them; so don't leave a low score just because of this. California residents add 9.75% sales tax . I am very rural and our Post Office is only open a few hours each day. They are closed for lunch; ocassionally when the clerks are doing deliveries; and at 4PM weekdays... and closed Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. Needless to say the USPS cutbacks have hit us harder than just about anywhere else. Sometimes it can be a challenge just to get something mailed! The Post Office significantly raised package shipping fees 2 years ago and have another increase planned for January 2011. Currently, packages weighing over 13 ounces and up to approximately 5 pounds are the most expensive to ship on a per pound basis. Parcel Post to the East Coast in some cases runs $107.16 not including insurance or delivery confirmation. These are the packages most people ship, so the PO makes a tidy windfall on these lighter class shipments. Furthermore, rates are not charged by weight and distance alone. A three tier multiplier is used to calculate the volume of all packages over 12"x12"x12". The first tier; up to 83" length and girth combined; is a small per pound surcharge based primarily on the actual weight for medium-sized packages. Once a large package measures between 84" - 107" though, you pay for a 'balloon rate' 20 pound parcel, or for the actual weight, whichever is more. If you exceed this dimentional allowance and ship a very large package between 108" - 130", you pay for 70 pounds regardless of the actual weight. For example, shipping a brick to New York will cost you $9.92, but a very large 24"x 24"x 24" box weighing 3 pounds with a pillow, will cost $107.16. I ship via USPS Parcel Post or Priority Mail; whichever is less; within 1 business day 90% of the time, but sometimes delays are unavoidable.
