Paul Whiteman's Old Gold radio show was broadcast from 1929 into 1930. This glossy 8 by 10 photograph was a complimentary picture sent out by the manufacturers of Old Gold cigarettes, Whiteman's sponsor. The photograph shows Whiteman with his orchestra, it is signed "sincerely Paul Whiteman", but the signature is printed on the photo, it is not a real autograph. Whiteman was the first to record Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, with George Gershwin himself on piano.
