Paws and Claws Card Game, Old Maid, Clark & Sowdon, Tokalon Series, ca. 1893 The Paws and Claws Card Game was published by Clark & Sowdon in New York City around 1893. Clark & Sowdon were known for their Tokalon Series which featured great cover art. The box for this set is in well-used shape with a partial apron and scotchtape repair but the cover art of an owl, cat and bunny on a donkey with a duck holding a flag is crisp and largely intact. The game is complete with 17 pairs of animals and one single, Miss Polly Parrot. Some of the pairs include Mr and Mrs Samuel Sheep, Mr and Mrs Chris Cattle, Mr and Mrs Peter Pig, Mr and Mrs Edward Elephant and Mr and Mrs Ferdinand Frog. The cards measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and are in overall good shape with some stains and wear. Backs are plain blue. The box measures 5 1/2 x 4" x 1" and has a partial apron with scotchtape repair to the corners. The instructions are worn and describe that Paws and Claws can be played as a trick taking game or simply as Old Maid. Thanks for looking.
