This auction is for a stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Eoderoceras (Eteoderoceras) obesum from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK. The fossil measures 19mm (3/4 of an inch) across. The ammonite is absolutely perfectly preserved on both sides and it has a wonderful golden colour and shine. The detail in the ribbing, spines and suture lines is great. Eoderoceras are very unique and sought after ammonites. Charmouth is one of the few places in the world where this species can be found and the only place where pyrite examples are preserved. Around 195 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
