It is composed of Lithium, Aluminium, Silicon, and Oxygen (LiAlSi4O10). It measures 7 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness. The name Petalite comes from the old Greek word "petalon" which means "leaf", refering to its leaf-like cleavage. Petalite has been called the Stone of the Angels, as it can facilitate connection with the Angels. Like other Lithium containing stones it can help ease depression and dark gloomy feelings. Petalite is grounding and protective so it is extremely useful for astral travel and meditation. Petalite is also a stone of peace in that it can bring gentle calm to almost any situation. These rough pieces of Petalite come from South Africa. They are a soft pink brushed with golden healer on several sides.
