This gorgeous and rare specimen of Petrified Wood, Metasequoia, from British Columbia, Canada, would make an excellent addition to any collection. Relatively speaking, in the geologic time frame, this is a relatively young specimen with a small and interesting brittle section of incomplete petrification on one edge. Natural on three sides, one face has been cut and polished to show the amazing colors and patterns in this specimen. The coloration of this piece is composed of browns, blacks, grays, whites, and creams, with some banding. The black colors indicate high carbon content in the soil at the time of mineral replacement. Tiny wood borer insect burrows are also present in this piece. A beautiful specimen. approximately 6 1/2" long x 4 1/2" to 5" across.
