This is a well-built post-war petrological microscope made in London and designed for studying rocks and rock-forming minerals in thin-section. It can be used as a general microscope (or even serve as an interesting and good-looking conversation piece), but contains lots of features for thin-section applications: Polariser and analyser filters 360 degree rotating stage X-Y stage-mounted slide translator Bertrand lens Aperture to accept optical accessories (not included) Other features include: Coarse and fine focusing Sub-stage condenser 3 mounted objectives - x10, x30, x40 - The x30 objective is made by Swift. 4 spare objectives including 3 by Carl Zeiss Storage box + key Overall in very good and working condition, the body carries a few chips and scratches the worst of which are pictured and some tarnished chrome. All are superficial and don't affect the operation of the instrument. The box is not the original but is of similar vintage. It's made of sturdy hard-wood and with a re-fitted carrying strap. I also suspect the microscope mirror is a replacement, but fits and works well. The weight including box is just under 12 Kg. Shipping note: For UK mainland, post will cost £25. Will post internationally, but cost could be expensive. Please ask and I'll investigate for your country. Large images of the microscope can be seen read more
