This large Pistoulet mug is hard to find! It holds a breakfast-sized Cafe Au Lait or a substantial lunch of soup with ease. Four inches tall, 4 1/2 inches across, weighs over a pound! Be sure to look for my other auctions this week, including the companion Pistoulet and Villa Della Luna books (one shown in pictures above just for reference), and collectible tableware from the story. The Pistoulet collection was the eventual resultof a serendipitous trip to Lupiac in the Midi-Pyrénées region of France, where author and illustrator Jana Kolpen spent time at the Gillet-Meyer family farmhouse (“Pistoulet”), eating comforting soups, learning how to create watercolor sketches (particularly of vegetables!) and finding healing. The experience inspired her to write and illustrate a book, "The Secrets of Pistoulet: An Enchanted Fable of Food, Magic and Love." With her assistance, Pfaltzgraff brought the dream of Pistoulet to life in this line of collectibles. “Villa Della Luna” is another book in the delightful series, and is inextricably tied with the popular Pfaltzgraff collection of the same name.
