Pfaltzgraff Space Age Rocket Mid Century Art Pottery I just purchased this vintage Pfaltzgraff Pottery vase from a local estate in Central Virginia. The vase has a striking "modern" design with elliptical bowl and angular / "fin" tripod base. The form is characteristic of the "space age" influenced designs of the 1950's. The vase is finished in a dark jade green glaze highlighted with mottled black flecks. The high gloss glaze covers nicely and shows rich color throughout the exterior and interior (t are a couple small miss areas on the very interior crevices). The piece measures 7 7/8" high and 7" in diameter. The base bears the pictured impressed "PFALTZGRAFF" mark, shape No. "807" and "USA". The vase is in excellent condition with no damage or repair, t is some very faint crazing to the interior glaze, no discoloration or staining. This strong Pfaltzgraff design would make a nice addition to any collection of American "mid century" production art pottery.
