The coins are: KM-168 Silver Peso 1903-S in XF condition; KM-172 Silver Peso 1912-S in VF condition. This is a very nice pair of Philippine Silver Pesos. Contains a 1903-S that had .7800 oz. of Actual Silver Weight when struck, and a 1912-S which is a very scarce date with a mintage of only 680,000. Both have dark traces of sea water immersion. The story goes that during WWII they were dumped into Manila Bay to prevent capture from the invading Japanese. Later they were retrieved and cleaned, like this 1903-S, and there are light surface scratches remaining. The scarce 1912-S is very difficult to locate in any grade. We heard somewhere that these were re-melted, but we can't confirm this. These are very popular issues that always sell above their KM values. This pair is a real bargain at our low opening bid.
