This is an old Phoenix & Eastern Railroad OR Peoria & Eastern Railway Adams & Westlake lantern with Corning Clear Globe. This lantern comes from the estate of Stanley Baker (Minnesota), famed railroad artist, writer and major railroadiana collector and is in as found excellent condition. The Phoenix & Eastern Railroad was incorporated in 1901 and operated over 101 miles of trackage between Phoenix and Winkelman, AZ, eventually being controlled through stock ownership by the Southern Pacific. The Peoria & Eastern Railway was Incorporated in 1890 and surrendered all operation and profits to the Cleveland, Cincinatti, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad. It operated over 341 miles of trackage between Indianapolis, IN and Peoria, IL. The frame is very strongly embossed “P & E. R.R.” in ¼” lettering on the shoulder. There are the slightest of dents in the crown top, otherwise no dings, gouges or rust in the smoke dome or crown top (see photos). This frame is marked “ 2-37 ” (manufactured 2 nd quarter - 1937) on the bottom of the fount cup and is in excellent condition. Retains most of its original finish, has absolutely no bent wires and stands straight. Comes complete with the correct insert Adlake 300 pot and burner in excellent condition with no rust or holes of any kind.
