Ca 1950.5 x 6 1/4 in. silver gelatin photograph of a long-haired African American subject (staining and some residue to upper right margin, light edge and corner wear to print). Ink stamp on verso, "Life Photo by Gordon Parks." Gordon Parks was a prominent photojournalist who documented issues of civil rights, poverty, and Black life, in addition to glamour photography. He is also remembered for creating the "blaxploitation" genre of films, becoming one of the first African Americans to produce and direct major motion pictures.Hindman strives to describe historic materials in a manner that is respectful to all communities, providing descriptive contexts for objects where possible.
