PHOTOPLAY 1933 Movie magazine Disney Swanson Dietrich Up for bid is a copy of Photoplay magazine from March, 1933. It’s filled with photos of Hollywood stars, feature articles, reviews of the latest movies, beauty and fashion tips, amusing gossip, and a slew of great ads.In this issue: Hollywood feuds; new troubles for Gloria Swanson; Marlene Dietrich and Josef von Sternberg: through?; Janet Gaynor ditches husband; a great shot from The Big Cage of Claude Beatty surrounded by lions and tigers; Ann Harding’s sister is still talking about her; Ruth Chatterton plays a bad girl; Mary Pickford reflects; Kay Francis, Myrna Loy, Katharine Hepburn, and other stars model the latest spring styles; Joan Crawford models Adrian dresses from Today We Live ; and lots more. Among the interesting candid shots: Mr. and Mrs. Walt Disney sledding with a stuffed Mickey Mouse; Clara Bow and Rex Bell; and Dietrich in trousers and trench coat. Also, some nice photo portraits of Loretta Young, Joel McCrea, Carole Lombard, Karen Morley, Gilbert Roland, Una Merkel, Madge Evans, and Nancy Carroll. On the cover is an Earl Christy portrait of Claudette Colbert, pre-bangs.Small penciled circle next to Y on front cover, back cover lightly tanned and shadowed, 1” chip at base of spine, inside covers have tape repair to edges and hinges; but a bright, crisp VG+ copy.
