Item : THE PICTURE OF EVEREST by ALFRED GERGORY. 1st Edition First Printing Large (27cm x 22cm) hardback book published by Hodder & Stoughton 1954. Content : This is a 1954 1st edition of The Picture of Everest - A book of full-colour reproductions of photographs of the Everest Scene by Alfred Gregory. Author Alfred Gregory was the official photographer for the first success climb of Mount Everest by Tenzing and Hillary in 1953. Title page reads: "Reproduced with the authority of the Joint Himalayan Committee of the Royal Geographic Society and the Alpine Club from the original coloured pictures taken by members of the British Mount Everest Expedition 1953." Introduction by Sir John Hunt. Condition : Dust-jacket; small pieces missing top of spine, minor creases/splits/wear to corners/edges, sun-discolouration to spine, handling marks/marks, (inside removable protective sleeve - photo taken without sleeve). Hardback very good condition; very minor shelf-bumps/wear to corners/edges, very clean & bright. Pages excellent condition; page faces very clean & bright.
