I am offering this interesting piece that my husband recently purchased through a local estate liquidation. He is always attracted to things with indians so this was a likely purchase for him. We are not quite sure, though, just what it is. It is definitely old, circa 1940-1950. The sculpture of the indian with bow and arrow is made of cast metal with a dore (gold) finish. I think it is brass. The indian measures 4 1/2" tall and has a round base approximately 4" in diameter. The length from his elbow to the tip of his arrow is 5". This indian is mounted on a solid oak plank measuring 4" X 6". A plaque mounted on the oak plank reads : PIERCE ARROW "ARCHER". THIS CLASSIC RADIATOR ORNAMENT FIRST APPEARED IN 1929 AND REMAINED THE PIERCE ARROW MASCOT UNTIL THEY DISCONTINUED PRODUCTION IN 1938. I am not sure if this is a hood ornament that has been mounted to be used as a paperweight or a copy of the PIERCE ARROW ARCHER cast specifically for this purpose as a paperweight. The condition of this piece is very good. T are no broken parts or wear, just dust and dirt, being sold as found in the estate. Thanks for your interest in this unique item.
