Pierre Marcel Aerts ( b. 1928 ) Born into a modest family Flemish Pierre Marcel Aerts was born in 1928 in the region of Liege (Belgium). By age 14 he entered the workforce while attending school(Masters Leclercq, and Masson and Renson). In 1950, he moved permanently to Reims in the Marne, in the heart of the Champagne region and part of the Master Course Macquart, for eight years. From 1958, he spent ten years painting at the academy of the Rue de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris (Masters and Aujame Rodde). In 1968, Pierre Marcel Aerts taught art in various schools in the region and he painted in his superb studio or on the roads of his adopted country. Awards: 1966: Drafted in the Prix de la Critique in Paris and Silver Medal of the French Artists 1967: Award of the city of Dinant (Belgium). 1968: Silver Medal of the City of Reims and First Prize of the City of Agen. 1969: First Prize of the City of Le Bourget and First Prize of the City of Franconville. 1970: Prix du Conseil General des Vosges, Epinal Knight in the Order of Academic Palms. Provenance: Private collector via Bonhams and Butterfields Auction. This art work: Champagne Marfaux. This is a magnificent and riviting landscape. The use of his brush to create light and dark in the sky, and it's reflection on the land is brilliant. The use of a heavy impasto compliments this winter landscape. Pierre Aerts is an internationally acclaimed French painter. His work has been auctioned by Gerard Champin, Guizzitte-Collet, Damoisy Guizzetti, and Drouot Compagnie Commissaires Priseurs.
