Pioneer RT-707 Tape DeckHere is the WHOLE DEAL in a home audio tape deck. This auction includes the Pioneer RT-707 tape deck, 28 reels of NEW / UNUSED premium recording tape, the printed owners manual, the complete service manual on micro-fische film, and a rare 15 foot DIN jack cable. I spent several months shopping for and acquiring all of these items. I wanted a great recorder to preserve my most cherished vinyl albums. I could have done this straight to digital CD, but I wanted a pure analog copy of them to work with. That job is done, and this tape deck fulfilled my highest demands. Now I am moving across the country and I cannot take everything. So with great reluctance I offer all this in one place and at one time to you, the discriminating audiophile.This tape deck is about as good as it gets for a machine of this age. Mechanicly, electronicly, and electricly, everything works perfectly. Every switch, button, knob, light, meter, and reel counter works. The captioned photos show every feature in operation. The red record light looks yellow due to the camera flash. The meters are shown operating in playback mode. I did not have an input connected for the record mode. The right side capstan pinch roller is soft and pliable and looks new. The left side roller is a passive idler device; it is made of plastic, is hard and darker in color, and is normal. I cannot see any wear marks on any of the heads under 6 power magnification. I used this tape deck to record, not for general playback, therefore I never used or tested the auto-reverse function.Cosmetically, I would rate this tape deck as 9 out of 10. I am as picky about the appearance of my equipment as I am of the audio performance. There just is not much to "nit pick" about this deck. The sides, top, and back painted surfaces have minor scratches. VERY MINOR. All the labels are intact except the UL label on the back. The front face has marks about the rack mount slots, JUST BARELY. Otherwise the front face is unscathed. There are not even any reel scrape marks. All of the front face graphics and text are perfect. The rear face connector panel graphics are also perfect.You will receive 28 reels of highest quality premium recording tape. There are 24 reels of Memorex Precision Recording Tape. There are two 10 packs and one 4 pack on 7 inch by 1200 foot reels. All but one are NEW / UNUSED; one reel has been recorded one time. My personal favorite recording tape has always been Sony. This Memorex tape is indistinguishable from that. My ears do not detect any high frequency loss when recording at high speed (15 inches per second ). That is the criteria by which I judge both the tape and the equipment. All of these boxes are labed as "Non retail recording tape made for "FRIENDS OF MEMOREX." You will also receive 4 reels of Fuji Film Master Recording Tape. Two reels are 1200 foot, and 2 reels are 1800 foot. They are all still shrink wrapped. I never used Fuji recording tape, but I used Fuji photo film and found it to be great. Please look around a bit at the prices that other eBay selllers want for premium recording tape. For the record, I recorded just over 100 allbums at high speed, one album per reel of tape. Those tapes I will of course keep. There is one empty take-up reel.You will receive an original printed owners manual ( not a copy ) in perfect condition. You will also get the complete service manual on micro-fische film. You will find a micro-fische viewer at any public library and you can print out hard copy there. And to complete this deal, you willl get a 15 foot DIN jack cable. Forget about getting all those line-in and line-out connections correct. This one cable will connect this fine vintage tape deck to your fine vintage amplifier.Finally, do not worry about packing for this fine old machine. I built a custom padded shipping crate for it.
