Great Indian pipe with detailed carved buffalo head (catlinite?), painted wooden stem and two strands with beads and shells. Made by Larry Hayes, "One Thunder" Sioux and purchased in 1977 by my mother for her Native American art gallery in Seattle. It has been stored since 1980, has slight damage to lip edge on top, has an unused looking piece of metal screen inside the bowl. 15" long, the carved head measures 4"x 3-1/2"x 1" and the whole thing weighs approx. 8-1/2 oz.
