up for sale is a rare victorian wall plague of sir george white v.c. .ballymena co.antrims best known figure in military history.also known the world over as "hero of ladysmith".strong family links with broughshane ballymena.sir george was born at rock castle portstewart,graduated at sandhurst royal military college,commissioned into 27th inniskilling regiment of foot.he was awarded the v.c. for leading attack in charasiah on 6th oct 1879 single handed......also awarded khedives star,companion of bath,knight grand cross of the bath,appointed knight grand commander of star of india,knight grand cross of st michael and st george,and accompany his appointment as field marshall was awarded order of merit.died in 1912 and is buried 1st broughshane presbyertian church ,ballymena co.antrim northern ireland......this is a nice item to add to any serious collectors collection.is in real good order for such an age,as one small minuet chip in the corner picture 3.which cant be noticed when proudly hung and displayed on wall .thanks for looking..
