Prev Stop Play Next HMS Repulse Historic Plated Scallop Shell Dish With Glass Liner This scallop shell dish is complete with Glass Liner which fits perfectly into the silver plated dish. It has as shown on the top side an enamel badge or emblem depicting an eagle wings ready to launch off a rock. Research shows that there were a number of British navy vessels named the Repulse going as far back to 1596. This emblem refers back to an early inarnation of the Repulse. The last vessel to bear the name was a Nuclear powered (Polaris missile) submarine which served in the Royal Navy from September 1968 to August 1996. I am not sure whether this item was from one of the earlier vessels a Royal Sovereign Class Battleship named the Repulse which was active during and after the 1st World War.
