Playing Cards Eagle Deluxe Five Suit Bridge . Purple w/ Gilt Edges. 1930's. Box has edge scuffs. Complete, Slightly used. no bends or folds (Do not know names of fifth suit).In 1938 there appeared a five-suit deck, having the usual 52 cards of the standard deck plus a complete fifth suit. In the United States this fifth suit was green, called EAGLES, and marked by an appropriate symbol; in England it was blue, called ROYALS, and marked by a crown. A five suit Bridge game was widely played for some months, but was soon forgotten. There were six suited decks such as Sextet for Bridge made in 1964 and 1966. Mfgr's also tried an eight suited deck that failed. How do you play five suit bridge? Fifth suit ranks below no-trump and above spades. 65-card deck is dealt out to the four players (16 each) with the 65th card placed in the center "kitty." High bidder can exchange a card for the kitty card. Scoring is different than for contract bridge. Slams are small slam, grand slam, and super slam.
