POCKET BAROMETER & ALTIMETER BY NEGRETTI & ZAMBRA On offer is a nice example of the Victorian Instrument Maker's Craft. This late 19thC English Baloonist's instrument comes complete with its leather-covered wooden carrying case, and is in good working order. The photos are taken against a backdrop of the Negretti & Zambra Catalog of the period (copy included); the barometer was priced at £5 5s! The catalog is dated about 1890, and one of the instruments pictured (and it has the same dial) shows the NZ logo, so I think this barometer does date to about 1890. Negretti & Zambra worked in London from 1850 to 1900+, and were Optical, Mathematical and Philosophical Instrument Makers. The partnership won a prize medal in 1851 at the Great Exhibition held at the Crystal Palace in London, and held the appointment of Instrument Makers to the Queen and Prince Consort.
