ORDER POLONIA RESTITUTAKRZYZ KAWALERSKI 5 KLASA, POLONIA RESTITUTA 1944 Instituted in 1921 by Lower house of parliament II Polish Republic as one of the highest medals, for rewarding the citizens for prominent contributions in field of education of, science, culture and art, the national economy, social activity, service of protection of health as well as strengthening the defences of country. In years 1939-1990 been useful by president of Polish Republic on emigration. Since 1944 had found among distinctions of communist the People's Poland simultaneously. Beyond natural persons, medal could be useful for institutions, enterprises, social organizations, military individuals and universities . Till moment of establishment in 1974 Order of Merit Polish People's Republic, Among honoured by communist powers with this order are Todor Żiwkow, Gustav Husak, Charles de Gaulle, Josip Broz -Tito, Leonid Breżniew. Since 1992 Order Polonia Restituta has been find in distinctions system of III Polish Republic. Order divides on five classes: I the Great Cross with Star, II the Commander's Cross with Star, III the Commander's Cross , IV the Officer's Cross, V the Cavalier's Cross.
