Direct from Chiapas, Mexico, an amber gemstone with beautiful color and multiple insects. This is an expertly hand-polished piece that weighs 13.5 grams. Inside is are numerous small insects, more than ten altogether. It is an absolutely one of a kind piece that would make a very nice addition to your collection. Please have a look and the photos and feel free to ask questions. The amber is between 22-26 million years old, dating from the Miocene to Oligocene Epochs, and is derived from the Hymenaea tree - the same responsible for the amber deposits in the Dominican Republic. However, unlike Dominican amber, Mexican amber is slightly harder and exhibits a richer range of color. Please note, we are currently in Mexico, not in Kentucky as stated in the auction.
