Okay-Here's the Scoop on our Huge Comic Book Sale: We are selling a large estate collection of antique/vintage comic books, one set of Popular Comics has every month in the entire year! Each comic book will start at $9.99 with No Reserve! We have stored each comic book in an archival clear sleeve and will pack them carefully, so they are protected for shipping. UP for Auction we have an original May 1943 Popular Comics, Number 87 published by Dell Publishing Co. Includes Terry and the Pirates, Smilin' Jack, The Three Little Gremlins, Gasoline Alley, etc..All of our comic books have been stored for many years in a cardboard box prior to our acquisition, so there are some amazing qualities that are in fine condition. For example: The colors are still bright and clear and the covers & cartoons still have vivid colors and shine, they are very readable and the spine & binding is still strong. The comic books themselves are in fairly flat condition--it does not appear that they were ever rolled up. The top cover has some small creases, a few small creases on cover that are not deep nor too noticeable, some small spine stresses at staples with small tears, small corner/spine stresses/wear, small dirt? spits. Front cover also has some wear, small tear at spine, wear at corners. Back cover has small creases, stresses, tiny discoloration marks, tiny wear at top & bottom edges, slight discoloration at outside edges with spits/dirt spots. Interior pages where the drawings are are in remarkable very good condition: colors still vibrant, a few very tiny stains/marks/tears in borders, binding still very strong. Borders inside range from cream to very light goldish brown, drawings are in excellent condition-good color/water mark on last age upper left border. All in all very good condition for its age. We feel the high point of this comic is the interior drawings in excellent condition, vivid colors inside and on cover and bright, bold excellent typeset to read in full, and a strong binding--very readable. The small imperfections such as the occasional dot/dirtmark/spot, a few tiny holes are in the borders, edge of inside papers has slightly browned/yellowed with age, but this is on the outside border. Colors on cover vibrant and rich, as well as the colors inside wonderful. inside. Beautiful inside where the drawings are--very readable, great color, no faded type set, imperfections are mainly on the boarders around the drawings. Very sturdy binding, opens well and sturdy and reads beautifully. Still has cover gloss. Inside & outside printing is crisp, still black and bold, and not one word to be missed! This is a very good condition antique for the true collector or dealer. We are not experts in grading comic books, but follow the Overstreet Grading Scale as best we can to describe the condition. We describe each comic book to the best of our ability as well as the condition and faults of each comic book, but there is always the chance for us to inadvertently overlook something.
