A LARGE AND EXTREMELY RARE piece from the New Persian (nieuw perzisch) collection of the Porceleyne Fles . For details, read the Description section below. Attentie Nederlandse kopers: onder de Engelse tekst vindt u een Nederlandse vertaling van de beschrijving van deze schotel. Keywords: Nieuw Perzisch, Nieuw Delfts, Hispano-Moresque, Islamic, ceramic, pottery, luster, Reflet Metallique, Berbas, Description: This platter is extremely rare for two reasons: This is one of the FEW pieces ever made in the New Persian/Nieuw Delfts collection of the Porceleyne Fles (PF) that features the Reflet Metallique (metallic luster) technique used in the PF's Berbas collection. This is also one of the ONLY pieces in the PF's New Persian collection to veer away from the classically Persian and Iznik style pottery of the Middle East. Instead, this piece is based on a more rare branch of Islamic art: Hispano-Moresque faience. Unfortunately, the metallique sheen or luster effect is almost impossible to capture in photos. In person, the combination of silvery blue and amber yellow that blend into each other across the platter are stunning. But in the photo, the silvery blue sheen reflects and makes one side of the platter look paler. In short, this platter is like a stunningly beautiful girl, who isn't very photogenic, but steals hearts in person. read more
