POSTAGE STAMP QUILT If you are looking for a special holiday gift or a beautiful handmade quilt for your home, please take the time to look at the four estate quilts that I am listing today. This auction is for a beautifully hand-pieced and hand-quilted Postage Stamp Quilt, with circa 1930s fabrics in the top, and a lovely white, almost polished cotton, fabric on the back. A sold red fabric was used to border and bind the edges. You will see lovely solids and gorgeous florals, including a few feedsack fabrics and charming figural prints. T are countless thousands of pieces in this quilt, each piece measuring a about one inch! Each of the blocks is set with red squares or triangles, making this a graphically stunning piece to display! The entire quilt measures about 68 x 86 inches. If you are curious about the number of pieces, each block has 113 squares x 35 blocks = 3,955 pieces, and that does not include the hundreds of squares and tiny triangles that were used to set the blocks together! As you can see in the photos, the piecework and quilting are very small and even, about 6-8 stitches per inch. The colors and fabrics are clear and vibrant because this has not been washed or displayed. No bad blemishes, damage, or odor were noted when I measured and photographed this quilt.
