SCARCE - PLAIN BACK - IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM (stamped on reverse) - Real Photo Plain Back Photo/Postcard of the Henderson Line Hospital Ship HMHS Amarapoora possibly at Scapa Flow. Unused c1940. Published the Imperial War Museum. Built 1920, 1939 became hospital ship HMS Amarapoora, 1946 acquired by Ministry of Transport, 1948 converted to emigrant ship, 1951 renamed Captain Hobson, 1959 scrapped. During WW2 she was based mainly at St Margarets Hope, Scapa Flow, but did leave at times for other duties. Very good condition. UNION CASTLE WATERMARK NOT ON POSTCARD.
