Superb 19th c pair of fine porcelain figurines - male and female - in 18th century dress. I am informed that these figures are Volkstedt. A beautiful pair of porcelain figures of quality and very fine detail. The colours are beautiful and facial detail is particularly exquisite. The male wears a tricorn hat and holds a fiddle. The female is holding a sheet of paper/song book possibly. The colours are yellow, blue and white with gilt decoration. The male is brown eyed, the female blue eyed. Individually painted eyebrows, red bow lips and rouged cheeks to both. There are some incised marks to base of female and part of a blue mark - the remainder of mark is obscured as images show. Condition of male figure - tip of fiddle broken away, age cracks to ankles and a repair to back of tree stump area. Fiddle bow broken away. Some minor nibbles to petals/leaves to base. Condition of female figure - firing crack to bonnet frill at one side and restoration to one ankle. Height some 8" to female and some 8.5" to male. A superb pair of 19th c porcelain Volkstedt figures of quality and detail.
