ELEGANT PAIR OF ENGLISH STERLING SILVER GEORGE III FORM CASTORS; CLASSIC BALUSTER FORM; BANDED TRIM; NEVER MONOGRAMMED; FROM MAKER S.I. LTD., CHESTER, 1919; SHOWN WITH FINE COLLECTION OF 19TH CENTURY STERLING WARES, ALREADY SOLD This is a beautifully designed pair of English George III form sterling silver castors. Worthy re-creations of a Georgian design. Hallmarked for maker S.I. Ltd., Chester, 1919. Each beautifully crafted in classic baluster form. Banded trim to mid-section and upper rim. Pierced dome covers. Alternating panels of scrolling vine decoration, with engraved diamond pattern. Topped with urn and globe tip finial. Never monogrammed. Castor 4 3/4 inches tall, 2 at the widest, each weighs 2 1/2 ounces. Fine condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina. Couple of very tiny bumps. One with mild base rim wave, very slight wobble and cover bit of spotting. Hallmarked to shoudler, bit rubbed, and interior cover. Enjoy....remainder of the collection pictured listed shortly.
