Some of these artifacts, collected 60-70 years ago by the previous owner's uncle in Peru, we believe to be Pre-Columbian and perhaps even Pre-Incan. Disguised as a Catholic priest for reasons unknown to us, Uncle sought ". . . things from tombs/graves. . . .old things. . .", gatd over the years by the local villagers and peasants w they found them when farming. Many of these artifacts came from tombs or graves looted long before laws protected archaeological sites. Several early Peruvian pots sold on eBay the last year or so came from the same collection which at that time was unknown to us. We have sold several pieces in our store, but we hope to sell the rest this way; at least we'll try. Most of the copper pieces are covered with verdigris; some also have add to ancient textiles found with them. We've made no attempt to clean any of these artifacts. We got them all together just piled in boxes, unwrapped, no order, no rhyme or reason to their storage. This large copper pectoral, measuring about 9 5/16" by 4 13/16" by just under 1/8", is striking in its size, weight, design, and appearance. Weighing 9 ounces, its design is classic for the many examples we have of this form. Both sides and edges are covered with verdigris in varying degrees.
