Pre-War BRITAINS Ltd, British Empire Cavalry, 54mm size cast lead, c. early 1930s or late 1920s. Britains set #1349, the "North West Mounted Police", a beautiful 5 piece matching set in the original "Soldiers of the British Empire" box. (Later, this set was named Royal Canadian Mounted Police). This set is an UNUSUAL Britain's variation . The officer is usually on the white horse, but in this set, the officer is on a black horse and a trooper is on the white horse. This set is guaranteed to be an untouched original Britains variation. All 5 have moveable arms, 4 with rifles and the officer empty-handed. None of the arms are loose and they are tight. The officer has a yellow cord on his front and brown gloves to denote him as the officer. His horse also has the sword scabbard extending below his stirrup, unlike the 4 troopers. The set appears to be in Excellent condition. T is some paint wear on some of the horse legs. All original, no breaks, repairs or repainting. The original Britains BOX is in Excellent condition, all corners tight, some wear on high spots and edges. T was some water damage and a corner repair on the lid opposite the end label. T is also an excellent side split repair on the lid. Made in England. See photos for details. Truly a wonderful set for any advanced collector. Ask if you are not sure, but do not wait read more
