3 POUNDS 17" LONG , THIS PREWAR ERA 1937-1938 LIONEL 1688 STEAM ENGINE BELONGED TO MY OLDER BROTHER. ABOUT MOMMA’S DUSTY TREASURES Please understand that these items from my family’s estate are in most cases of unknown origin to me. Since I am not an antique collector or expert regarding these items, I am describing them to the best of my ability and memory. I have not cleaned or repaired any of them. I can only hope that if you are interested in them, you know what you are looking at. If I know the history of an item, I will do my best to relay that to you. I inherited a large amount of treasures when my mother passed in 2001. They are from our family house that was home to 3 generations, plus my family, making it 4 generations. To put that in perspective, my paternal Great-Great Grandparents sailed from the British Isles and settled in San Diego in 1868 and my maternal Grandparents moved to California from Carnoustie , Scotland in 1921. I found crates, dressers and boxes in the attic, garage and shed. It seems we (all generations) were all reluctant to discard anything we deemed of value! My immediate family has kept those items that are of special meaning to each of them, I had intended to keep the rest, but I have moved into a smaller place and don’t have the room to keep them all.
