This poor banded slate banner stone hardy survived the plow shears and discs of a farmer's field in northern Hancock county Indiana. It is 2 5/8 inches long, 2 1/8 inches wide and 7/16 of an inch thick. Looking at photo #3 illustrates how the Indians drilled the holes. They didn't drill all the way through the stone from one side but drilled halfway through from one side and then drilled from the other side to try and hit the first hole. This also shows the angle of the drill point. As a craftsman myself this is very interesting to me and this piece could be used as an educational tool.
