This darling curio art is truly a collectible! The Imperial Panda is executed with the mastery of Imperial cloisonné and comes with a custom stand. His lovable character is a priceless collectible. This is not a cheap piece of cloisonne. The Panda has a bronze body!!! with extremely detailed close, fine, and perfect cloisons. It was made in the late 1940's for the elite European market. The gold gilt is characteristic of Imperial workmanship!! This panda is wonderfully gilt with real gold!! The defined artwork, rich colors, materials, and the old process are characteristics of the Imperial Cloisonné. Each item is individually made and no two alike. The secrets of color and application, the Master's artisans, and the finest materials belonged exclusively to Imperial. The masters of Imperial Cloisonné produced the finest detailed and skilled enamelware. Imperial Cloisonné is no longer. Lesser quality items are being made with modern technology for inexpensive export, and antique copies to meet the American craze for replicas. For the connoisseurs who know Chinese Art, this is very sad. The Panda was old when purchased in China in 1980. It has been safely stored in my warehouse since then.
