This Swiss Cow Bell had to have been hand crafted. The Bell is a metal (and I'm not sure what it is, but it could also be bronze - as it has some greening). Bell is 3" tall and 3" across bottom; the Leather strap is 6" long and 3/14" wide; the peg is 6" wide. The leather strap is very thick and heavy and closed with a wooden peg that bears the initials " D F but the F could be the number 7 (see picture). I really don't know what I have but I do know my husband got it in the Swiss Alps some 30+ years ago. The last picture is taken inside the leather strap and shows how the bell and clapper are mounted to the strap (see picture). It is very crude, but extraordinarly handcrafted. I have not cleaned it because I do not want to spoil its authenticity. I know a collector of these items will understand it's history and value. Enjoy the auction.
