Primitive Antique Wood Folk Art Squirrel Pull Toy Signd Hold on to your hats, folks, have I got a week for you! I want to an auction in St. Charles Illinois recently. They were selling the estate of a person who closed their antique store 25 years ago and it ‘s all been in storage since. I got some fabulous deals, many very old - lots from the 1800s, and one of a kind items. The prices were good, and I’ll be passing my savings on to you. This one I’ll be posting items from for weeks, so be sure to keep checking! I also did some quick power shopping in addition to the auction and picked up lots of primitives, old store display pieces, wireware and just lots of neat stuff! I have some really cool and really old toys this week, and this one doubles as a wonderful rustic piece of folk art. What I have is an antique hand made pull toy. It's a squirrel, paws to mouth mounted on a rustic wood base with hand cut wheels. He's hand painted too, with a deep red body, black accents for his features, a tan colored tail, and a black base. There's the remnants of a pull rope at the base of the squirrel - it does not look original, and it was either cut or broke off right at the base. The piece measures 9" tall, and the base is 5 3/4" by 4 3/4". It is signed in pencil on the bottom - I can read the first name as John - but I can't make out the read more
