An UNBELIEVABLE treasure! Antique primitive, footed tinware tole paint country store display unit. This early 19th century display piece comes from the Albert Schwartz estate and I am told was used to hold and sell coffee on numerous cruise ships and in an old country store in New Amsterdam, before it was New York City. The provenance I was told also names the store or pharmacy as Boyd's, corner of 46th and 6th? Though I do not know this to be a true fact, it is what the estate heirs told me. Found in Great Barrington Mass., in an old farm house, this amazing piece was used to display goods for sell. At the top inside, t is a tin plate that held a sign of the item being sold. This measures 7" tall and 10" across the opening. The OLD red paint is true and right~! A gold painted band wraps around the foot with a black paint border.Great other designs painted on the front. The top is somewhat oval and round with a flared back. Hope the photos show the great character. Condition is fantastic. Great old paint, clean tin interior with wear as expected, tiny pinhole repair on side wall, minor paint loss and t but overall a real gem! Don't miss out on this REAL antique! It is my opinion that this dates to early 1850's or earlier. Shipping quote is parcel post UNINSURED. I require insurance on most itmes so please wait for an invocie before read more
