Happy Sunday!!Today I have Herbie here for your consideration.I've had this tin for years and usually display it for the Christmas season with bells inside. This year, as I took it out of storage, I thought what a wonderful and unique base this would make for one of my snowmen!Herbie was created using osnaburg fabric that was heavily stained with coffee. It took him two days to dry in front of my woodstove. I then haphazardly applied both linen and antique parchment matte paints and then sanded him lightly and added a little more stain on top.I've given Herbie 1/4" buttons for eyes and 1/8" buttons for his mouth. His nose is a wood dowel that i've painted out in layers and distressed a bit and last minute I decided to add stitched eyebrows. His hat is a very solid Kraft that i painted in black milk paint, then distressed and added a band of Dunrovenhouse homespun that I ripped for added texture. To keep things simple, I stayed with the black button theme and painted the buttons with the black milk paint before distressing them lightly to compliment his heavily distressed body. His arms are 3/8" dowels that I drilled into to allow them to be stitched on, and I primitively striped and distressed them to go with the rest of his outfit.Herbie is 12" tall and 4.5" wide. The circumference of his tin can is 14". He's a nice size for display read more
