Primitive Stitchery : Wendy and Wylie met in Mr. Franklin's Grocery and Deli on Main Street. As it happened, Wylie was already the resident cat, owned by Mr. Franklin for several years (or, truthfully, he owned Mr. Franklin!). One day Wendy strolled thru the screen door just as Mrs. Berger was leaving. Wylie, who was seated on the stool by the cash register, gave her a casual glance, not wanting to seem too enthusiastic about her presence. He remained aloof as she strolled thru the aisles, sniffing the fragrances that make a cat's heart purr with delight. Sausages, cheese, herring, salami......She weaved her way thru the produce section and discovered a little bed at the end of the aisle. It was just a palette of old blankets that Mr. Franklin had placed on the floor for Wylie. Mostly because Wylie kept a close eye on the produce during the night to insure that no little mice wandered in. Well, as it happened, Wendy was feeling a bit tired. She thought perhaps a nap would revive her. Wylie studied the situation and had to think and act quickly. After all, he was not used to sharing his turf! He jumped down from the stool and flew (figuratively speaking) to her side. One look into her pretty face told him all he needed to know.
