A black silk velvet Catherine Walker tuxedo gown circa 1991 worn by HRH Princess Diana to a private function. The slender-fitting gown has piping to a raised waistline, an ivory duchess satin collar and cuffs with cording details, and a black silk lining. A label reads "Catherine Walker London." Walker was one of Princess Diana's favorite fashion designers and created garments for her for 16 years. Appears in the book Catherine Walker An Autobiography by The Private Couturier to Diana , Princess of Wales (Universe Publishing, 1998) The gown was purchased by the consignor at the "Dresses From the Collection of Diana, Princess of Wales" sale at Christie's in 1997 and has remained their possession.
