Who the heck is michaelplatypuss?!!? I work 9-5 building full size traditionally customized cars and 1950s automotive sculpture. my full-size cars have won awards-2010 first place winner grand national roadster show and first place 2010 sacramento autorama. I also do concept design illustrations and models for many big name show car owners. (Sam Barris chopped merc). but enough of this babbling about who I am, what i secretly love even more is my MODEL cars! lets talk about this beautiful model up for bid! heres my AMT 1964 mercury wild custom. i built this a few years ago using every custom styling part that came with the kit! i did not like the custom front-end provided, so i made a new custom front lower "roll pan" from the stock bumper which i separated from the grill. the rear-end wears 57 edsel tail-lights. i added lake pipes from the monogram 49 merc kit. the paint is candy lime gold over a metallic gold base followed by my favorite high-build clear coat. i wet-sanded every inch and polished it to the mirror-like wet look shine you can see in my pics. all trim is chrome foiled. the hand painted white-walls roll on thick metal axles. read more
