Up for bid is one of the Professor's rarest ceramic wall masks. It is the head of Medusa circa 1950. The last auction estimate for this mask was at Heritage Auctions in 2017 and the pre-auction estimate was $5,000-7,000 (you can check ). Due to the very intricate/delicate nature of the snakes on Medusa's head, there is minor damage here. Specifically: tips of 2 snake tails are missing but the orange clay is covered with black paint, on Medusa's right eyebrow-2 very small thin hairs are missing and again covered in black paint to hide orange clay, the right large snake has 2 teeth but one is slightly chipped off-very very delicate ceramic, and lastly on the left bottom/middle-there appears to be a small repair to another tip of a snake's tail (see last 5 pics for more detail and understanding). Questions/comments super appreciated and I strive for nothing short of complete honesty about all mt items I want the buyer of this mask to love it as I do. It has a wonderful turquoise glaze!!Eugenio Pattarino(1885-1971)One of the rarest creations of great Italian sculptor-"MEDUSA!"Highly detailed and realistic.Measures approx. 12" tall x 10" wide x 4" high. It is heavy and weighs 5.5 pounds. Shipping may seem high due to: using an extra strength box/a lot of packing materials/bigger box to get it to buyer very safely!Signed on the inside. read more
