The Professor, Harper & Bros NY 1857. Currer Bell (pseudonym of Charlotte Bronte). 1st US edition published same month & year as the UK 1st. Written before Jane Eyre ( explained in preface by Charlotte's husband) though published later posthumously. Brown cloth stamped in blind spine letters in gilt. Yellow endpapers, 330pp, 1 pp ads for the Bronte novels at front, 6pps Harper ads at rear. Solid boards however worn scuffed and frayed, spine ends chipped/worn, gilt faint (scans) else firm & bound tight. Internally complete bright with the usual foxing to text throughout ( scan) lightish doesn't interfere with reading. Rare Charlotte Bronte 1st ed for the collector.
