For auction/sale here I have a very old and beautiful Bible which I believe is quite a rare Bible to find in the UK, especially in such nice condition. As you'll see from the photos, it’s called a “PRONOUNCING PARALLEL BIBLE” on the huge leather bound spine. From the limited research I've done, I think it's approximately 120 years old, perhaps more and believe it to have been produced in the late 1880's or very early 1890's by A.J. Holman & Company in Philadelphia because their company seal is on the title page. It was handed down to my husband & I from an old great aunt who was born in Pennsylvania in 1904. This had already been in her family for many years and they brought this bible over to the UK with them when her family moved to Scotland in 1916. I think part of it’s early life back in Pennsylvania was perhaps spent in a traditional bookcase because there’s slight scuffs on the bottom edge of the leather binding, but those are the only noteworthy marks on what is otherwise a really wonderful condition antique Holy Bible. It’s in such nice condition because it’s been in our family for it’s whole life and spent the majority of that time boxed and packed away in cupboards, taken out only very rarely.
