ROWLAND & MARSELLUS - 10" Dark Blue "SOUVENIR OF PROVINCETOWN MASS." Plate ftom STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND. "Designed & Imported by H. A. WIPPICH PROVINCETOWN, MASS"...Pictured at upper right - Town Crier (He said it hurt...), Then Universalist Church at 3 o'clock, End of Cape Cod at lower right, and Mayflower in Plymouth Harbor, lower left. "Compact Memorial" at 9 0'clock & Spreading Nets at Knowles Wharf at upper left, Pilgrim Memorial Monument in center. A really handsome shade of dark Blue! Light evidence of crazing on back.... This plate (sadly for us) has TWO problems. Our one photo reveals an edge chip and a non-professional repair.....It is all on the underside of the plate and would not show if the plate ends up as a hanging piece or upright...a little pinhead nick is about an inch away as well. T is a 1.5" 'hairline'...visible on the BACK only, but you cannot feel it. (We can send a photo of the 'hairline' if requested...we're out of picture space). Absent these flaws, this would be a $75.00 - $100.00 plate or MORE at an Antique Show.....It rarely shows up. It still offers a great appearance.....and is priced to allow for the flaws...(Go to any museum on a visit and take a look at museum ceramics......many have flaws and chips. If they're scarce, a museum still puts them out!) Send an e-mail request if you wish to see any read more
